Spring is right around the corner and it is time to put away the sweaters, pull out those patio chairs, and enjoy the sunshine! If you are feeling like your home is a need of a little attention, but you don’t have the budget for a whole re-model, I have great news for you! Here are a few things you can do around your house that will have make a big statement, without depleting your bank account!
Layer Up Your Living Room
While you may be shedding layers due to the warm weather, you can be adding more layers to your living room to create a fresh new look on any budget. Rugs define a space and can make a room more intimate or seem way larger! Adding a few throw pillows can bring a lot of texture and color to a room that you can easily change out with the seasons. Even if it is 90 degrees, I always love to have a few blankets on hand, throw these over a chair or sofa to instantly create a warm feeling in your room. My go- to decor piece is always a pouf! These versatile items can be tossed under a coffee table or in a corner, but are fantastic for flexible seating or as a footrest.
A Fresh Coat of Paint
When people ask me the one thing they can do to have the biggest impact in their space, my answer is always the same – paint. A paint color can brighten up a room, create a moody lounge area, or add a pop of color to a dreary day! If you are not up to repaint a whole room, try starting with the backs of a bookshelf. This is a really easy DIY project that will add a pop interest to any space.

Plants Plants Plants
The colors are changing outside so bring some of that happiness into your home! It has been scientifically proven that humans are happier around natural elements, so don’t fight it. Even if you cannot keep anything alive, there are some great faux options out there that look like the real thing! Here are a few of my go- to plant choices, both real and faux….
Light Up Your Patio
With spring comes all the warm weather and being in the South, I want to get outside now before the crazy heat kicks in… Try creating a functional multi-purpose space that you can enjoy on multiple occasions. Whether you have a great patio or just a small front porch hang up a few strands of outdoor string lights for big mood change! String lights create a lot of ambiance while also giving you the ability to use your outdoor space at night, without bright flood lights blinding you.
